Honda sports SS50
HISTORY



The first of 5 SS50`s was built from 1967 to 1969, its a very fast and fast looking 50cc.
The SS50 was the replacement for the CS50 that was built from 1964
it had similar engine design:

- four gear
- fast camshaft
- 17mm carburettor
- low upswepped
exhaust
- 17 inch wheels
- ignition advancing
flywheel
It had a top speed of 85 km/h
Which is very fast for a 50cc four stroke engine.
The fuel-tank was similar to the TT50,also made in 1967.





Second model SS50 was called SS50M it was built frm 1969-1972.
In the Netherlands this model was sold as CB50S, but in most other countries it
was called SS50M. This was the first Honda 50cc with five speed gear gearbox and had
a headlight similar to the DAX(ST50/70).

                                

It has plastic rear fender and painted front fender.



Third model SS50M
Same engine only 19mm carburetter,
low upswepped exhaust two color painted fueltank and metallic colors.
It also has chrome plated fenders.

                                

                                



Fourth model SS50Z
This model was sold in vast numbers as a moped in the Netherlands,
but was also sold with the fast engine abroad.
It was fitted with seperate speedometer and headlight, cycling pedals, painted rear fender,
longer seat and high upswept exhaust.

                               

The dutch moped version had four gears, cast iron cilinder, 12mm carburettor,
and normal camshaft. It also has an ignitiondelayer that limits the speed to 45 km/h.
later versions have a disc brake.



P.S. In Belgium the CD50 was sold as SS50 from 1972,
Throughout the entire SS50-line numerous changes were carried out,
but the frame wheels and engine remained almost unchanged.

                                                      The first sports moped

C320
This bike is the first Honda sports moped sold in the Netherlands,Belgium and France.
In these three countries there were three versions of the engine: the dutch version
could reach 40km/h,the version from Belgium could reach 60km/h and the french one
could reach 50km/h. It was build from late 1963 till 1965.

C320s
The S-engine is the biggest difference between the C320 and the C320s.
The fastest version (belgium) could reach 85km/h this way it could compete with
fast german mopeds.

TT50
This moped was only built for 3 months, it was made to get rid of parts
that were used on earlier C320's and SS50's.

TS50
An allmost complete redesign (exept for: frame and engine) made it a completely
different moped. Smaller 17" wheels,feul tank of a first model SS50 and plastic mudguards.

The last of the C320-range; Honda were planning to introduce the moped version
of the SS50 (in the Netherlands it was called CD50)
Big chrome paneled fuel tank,seperate speedometer/headlight and chrome plated mudguards.

C310
Honda's first moped introduced early 1963,it was sold together with the C100 and C110.
The legshields made it an ideal way of transport for a lot of people.
Many were sold and only a few good ones are left
